It’s your responsibility to change your behaviour, but you don’t have to do it alone. There's confidential support that can help you understand your behaviour and how to change it.

Getting professional help

If you’re making someone feel scared or you’re worried you might be controlling, there are professional support services to help you, in confidence and without judgement.  

The Respect Phoneline is a confidential helpline, email and webchat service for people behaving abusively in their relationships. It supports people of all genders, in any type of relationship, anywhere in the UK.

Domestic Abuse Intervention Project (men’s services)

DVIP offers a range of support for men who want to change harmful behaviour in relationships. They can help you understand the impact of your actions and how to start making positive changes.

TLC’s Men’s Behaviour Change Programme

Talk, Listen, Change provides programmes for men who are worried about their behaviour and want to change it. They offer guidance, tools and support to help build respectful relationships.

StopSO UK

StopSO UK offers specialist support for people who are worried about their sexual behaviour or troubling sexual thoughts. They provide confidential guidance, therapy and tools to help prevent harm and build healthier behaviours.

Not sure who to talk to?

If you’re not sure who to talk to about changing your behaviour, you can also contact your local council who should be able to signpost you to an appropriate local service. There will also be some resources on your local council website, such as information on services and advice.
